1976 one of the worst disasters.

The last important earthquake my country suffer.
It brought pain and death to Guatemala the early morning of july 4th at 03:03:33 hours. It magnitude was of 7.5 degrees over the Ritcher scale.
The reason was the failure of the river Motagua, that goes over the 80% of national territory.
17 of 22 departments of Guatemala suffer from the catastrophe and were destroy because of the phenomenon.
Over 25 millions of people died and more than a million ended homeless.


The earthquake tooke 30 to 40 seconds, having it first movement vertical and then an horizontal.
The movement was such big that lots of people couldn’t even stand up form bed and others were on the flour.

Students were forced to help on the reconstruction of other structures.
It was a huge impact for the social and economical parts of the country.
